Rosewood Baha Mar Launches Marine Life Conservation Programmes

Rosewood Baha Mar has partnered with a local initiative BREEF...

Rosewood Baha Mar are working with BREEF to offer fun, educational programmes for guests centred around the Coral Reef Sculpture Garden, a habitat for marine organisms, created by local Bahamian artists and home to the world’s largest underwater sculpture and living art gallery.

Citizen Science Programme

The first programme, developed to promote marine life conservation, is the Citizen Science Programme, where guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a half-day adventure snorkelling with experienced ocean guides. They will dive into an educational snorkelling tour of the living art gallery and learn fascinating facts about the coral reefs while identifying various species of coral and fish. To conclude the experience, guests can plant and adopt their own coral fragment and a plaque with their chosen coral name will be permanently placed on their coral propagation unit. BREEF will monitor the growth and health of the baby coral so on the guest’s next visit, they can see how it is progressing and helping to restore the reef.

Beach Clean Up

Rosewood Baha Mar x BREEF also offers guests the chance to volunteer for the local community by participating in a beach clean-up to help combat plastic pollution and preserve the beautiful Bahamian white sand beaches. A BREEF team member will join to help educate those attending on the work the organisation does to protect marine life and help raise awareness on the importance of protecting the precious reefs. The organisation also work with Cans4Kids to recycle all the cans and bottles found on the beaches and raise funds for local schools and youth organisations.

On the white sands of Nassau’s Cable Beach, Rosewood Baha Mar is the essence of Bahamian refinement and sophistication. The luxury resort provides a sense of total escapism, paired with a beautiful beach setting and intuitive service. The resort offers an oasis of exclusivity while providing convenient access to the island’s lively downtown district in Nassau as well as nearby locations like Lyford Cay, Old Fort, Albany and only 15 minutes away from Lynden Pindling International Airport. With testing of vital importance to travel in 2021, Rosewood Baha Mar has also launched a dedicated testing centre right on property, allowing guests to receive complimentary COVID-19 Antigen and when required, RT-PCR testing.
