Osman Yousefzada, the London-based designer of eponymous label OSMAN, announces the opening of the ‘House of Osman’, a new retail concept that bring together the designer’s vast array of interests and expertise. Known for his architectural aesthetic and precision tailoring, the House of Osman is the manifestation of Osman’s creative pursuits across fashion, art, publishing and interior design.
The House of Osman is more than a traditional retail space, and acts as the physical extension of his magazine The Collective, bringing together the designer’s rich and diverse creative community across the worlds of Fashion, Art, Design, Interiors and Literature. The launch of the House of Osman solidifies Osman’s burgeoning reputation as a cultural curator and commentator.
The 3,000-square foot location on Percy Street was chosen not only for its proximity to the historic Bloomsbury sector, but for its association with early Twentieth Bohemia.
Osman wanted a space that would be unconventional and centralise his workforce to house the design studio, personal offices, atelier and head office departments.
Osman plays a central role as overall curator of the House, and his enlisted artist friends whose works will be exhibited and available to buy. Works by Prem Sahib, George Henry Longly, Celia Hempton, and Erika Versutti can be found exhibited amongst the ready-to-wear collection on the ground floor; a space that will also play host to a rare finds bookshop. Working with Cecil Court rare and antiquarian booksellers, the House of Osman will sell sought-after works and first editions.
Of the House, Osman comments:
“I wanted to retain the normal functionality of the home, as if you had walked into someone’s home… the clothes, books and objects and arts have an equal importance. Each having the ability to nourish the soul.”
