A couple of films inspired Andrew Gn’s intentionally seasonless Fall collection, and both star Catherine Deneuve. Released more than a dozen years apart, each had to do with love triangles: Belle de Jour, from 1967 and The Hunger, from 1983. “I loved the sexual undercurrents in both,” Gn offered. “Both characters look extremely bourgeois, but appearances can be deceiving. It’s not often you hear a designer connect cult films to a darkness behind smiling emoji as a metaphor for our times. Read more from vogue.com here
Vince‘s season colour palette was fused with shades of copper, ink blue, sandlewood and vintage rose, purposefully designed to be paired together totally. Taking inspiration from the work of Milton Avery and Barbara Hepworth, the colours have a nostalgic 70s feel, made modern by their manifestation in new fabrics and shapes. Outerwear in draped silhouettes provided warmth in brushed wool, light turtlenecks were made for layering under pleated dresses, cropped culottes provided a balance of proportion.
Longchamp‘s inspiration came from the liberated woman sitting on top of the world loudly and proudly waving her self-assured grace and natural charm like a flag. She’s the modern-day Amazon woman. Longchamp created its Winter 2018 collection especially for her. Not only is this season’s galloping horse motif inextricably linked to the Amazon woman, it has also been Longchamp’s icon since it was founded in 1948. Horses and everything associated with them stand as symbols of Longchamp’s verve and modern sophistication – and they are the sources of inspiration behind the Winter 2018 wardrobe.
