Hockney, both his artwork and the man himself, was the starting point for Mother of Pearl‘s Spring Summer 2018 collection; drawing inspiration from his Yorkshire landscapes alongside his personal style of mismatched patterns, woollen knitwear and standout accessories. Inspired by his talent to create a variety of depths and layers in his work, Powney used graphic patterns from his own wardrobe of stripes, spots and checks, and remixed them together, resulting in a multi dimensional and highly tactile collection.
Osman created a world of interiors for the presentation of his Autumn / Winter 2018 collection, by staging a House Party in the heart of Bloomsbury on Vintage. Metallics and sequins led the way as models danced to Blondie’s ‘Heart of Glass’ in a living room sprawling with retro and vintage furniture. Osman’s signature embellishment and superior detailing was evident in evening dresses, whilst the Osman suit in emerald colours showed guests that work can be party.
This season Preen by Thornton Bregazzi were inspired by the Haenyeo women divers of Jeju Island in Korea, who are true eco feminists. They created a matriarchal island where women were the head of the household and main bread winners. Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi looked at the underwater world and were inspired by the colours and textures of the sea and coastal habitat of the pearls of the sea. Woven netting inspired by fishnets, wet suit inspired details, traditional fishing knits, Korean inspired textiles and shapes. Prints that look like they are covered in plastics representing the state of our seas today.
