Following the release of the brand’s Most Sustainable Jeans Ever earlier this year, the G-Star Elwood RFTPi jeans and D-Staq RFTPi jacket have been hand-picked by V&A Senior Exhibition Curator, Edwina Ehrman, for inclusion in the exhibition. This marks a first for the brand, which will be retailing denim product that is simultaneously on display in a national museum.
Ehrman commented on G-Star’s place in the exhibition: “I have included G-Star’s garments in the exhibition as a great example of a brand re-thinking how clothes can be made. Their new denim fabric, coupled with design which facilitates recycling, represents a significant step forward in the global challenge of creating a cleaner, more sustainable denim industry.”
G-Star RAW Corporate Responsibility Director, Frouke Bruinsma, said of the partnership: “Innovation and sustainability are at the core of the G-Star RAW DNA. We feel honored to be part of the V&A’s “Fashioned from Nature” exhibition, which we view as a seminal moment in the wider conversation on the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry.”
The G-Star Elwood RFTPi jean and the D-Staq RFTPi jacket have both been donated to the V&A’s fashion archive, enabling this seminal development within the denim industry to be available to academics and researchers in generations to come. Fashioned fromNature provides a platform in which G-Star is a leading voice in a global discussion on how we can create a positive, more sustainable future in the fashion industry.
